Catching up

Mmm. So I have not been good at being accountable to the site. But I have been trying to eat better. And after a lot of tests, the doctors finally figured out what was wrong with me. My gallbladder was only functioning at 13%. So December 17th they removed it. It’s been great. No more mystery side pain. No sickness after every time I eat. Almost no heartburn. And surprisingly, almost no more migraines. I’ve had maybe three since my surgery. I usually get that many (or more) in a week. It’s been almost life changing. I still have days like … Continue reading Catching up

I love pizza. Like seriously. I mean, I know other people really like pizza too. But I mean, I really like pizza. And not like Domino’s or Pizza Hut. Not like that. I do enjoy getting a pizza out, or delivered, but it’s so hard to find a good pizza. Growing up outside of Chicago spoiled me. There was a great Italian restaurant in the city I grew up in. Seriously, if you ever find yourself in northern Illinois near Rockford, jump off I-90 or wherever you are, take the jaunt through town and hit up Giuseppe’s. You will not regret … Continue reading Pizza

Taco Salad in a jar and Diet Bet

Have you guys ever heard of Diet Bet? It’s essentially a site where you go, you join a group, and bet on yourself to lose weight. They have small pots where you put in $10, $20, $30 or more high stakes pots where you put in $50, $100 or more. Then you loose 4% or 10% of your body weight in a set amount of time. Those who reach the goal split the pot. I have yet to try it, but I’ve really been thinking about it. I really need to lose weight and I think a little monetary incentive … Continue reading Taco Salad in a jar and Diet Bet

Egg rolls and more

I’ve been missing for about two weeks (well since I started the blog) because I’ve had some stuff going on. I’ve been pretty sick lately, basically every time I eat, which is part of the reason that I have really been trying to stay on the vegan course. Two weeks ago I did my best Chinese finger cuff impression, and had an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy. Both were an attempt to figure out what is going wrong, and the colonoscopy was also something that I had been needing (doctors orders) for the last 3 years. My dad had to … Continue reading Egg rolls and more

I know you are, but what am I?

I am the trans guy in Almost Vegan Trans Guy. I have recently, over the last 9 months or so, really began delving into vegan cooking. My wife and I have found that I typically cook a lot better when I am cooking vegan or vegetarian, than when I am cooking meat. I have decided to start this blog for numerous reasons. I think that it will really help keep me on track if I am reporting somewhere other than just relying on myself to keep track. I would really like to me some other like minded food people. I would … Continue reading I know you are, but what am I?
